Spares wasn’t created in a boardroom. It wasn’t built by executives, marketing committees, or corporate merch planners. Spares was built by someone (Joe) who has spent a lifetime around musicians, loud stages, venues, studios, and the people who work behind the scenes to make live shows happen.

We saw the same problem everywhere:

  • Fans needed hearing protection.
  • Artists needed hearing protection.
  • Crew needed hearing protection.
  • Merch tables had everything but hearing protection.

And the stuff available wasn’t good – cheap foam, rubber cones that fall out, have filters made of plastic, disposable plugs: all novelty items – none of it belonged next to real merch.

So Spares set out to fix that.
